This Cormorant is the subspecies Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis. The subspecies Phalacrocorax carbo carbo, is the usual Cormorant found on Atlantic coasts and nearby inland waters in Britain. Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis is also found in Britain, but is normally found from Western Europe to Asia.
Cormorants develop white patches on their head and neck during the spring.
